Former India opener Aakash Chopra has insisted that Dhoni would feel no hesitation in playing in an Indian team that is captained by Virat Kohli. Chopra also added that if the selectors want a change in the leadership of the team, it would only be fair to give Kohli two years before the World Cup.

"Yes, Dhoni can surely play under Kohli in ODI," Chopra said while commentating during the fifth Test of India's ongoing series against England in Chennai.

There have been a few questions about Dhoni's form over the last couple of months and whether or not he should lead the team to a third successive World Cup. Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in India's history leading them to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

Chopra isn't the only one who has asked for the change in leadership. Virender Sehwag had earlier backed the Indian Test captain to take over as the skipper in all three formats of the game. Chopra, however, added that the national selectors should not make the call in a hurry and suggested the call be taken after the 2017 Champions Trophy.

But that's a call selectors need to take post the Champions trophy in 2017. If they don't view Dhoni as a captain in 2019, it's only fair to give Kohli two years before the event

Kohli has been enjoying a purple patch in his career not only with the bat but with his decision-making as well. The 27-year-old is the leading run-getter for India across all formats this year and was instrumental in the Royal Challengers Bangalore's run to the IPL final. On the captaincy front, the Indian Test team has won 17 matches under Kohli's leadership so far and have not lost a single Test match so far taking India to the top of the ICC Test rankings.
