Sandeep Patil, who had applied for the role of India's head coach, did not receive any invitation from the BCCI to present his case or attend any interviews. The Cricket Advisory Committee has already interviewed the candidates, and the BCCI is expected to soon announce the new head coach.

Sandeep Patil, chief selector of the Indian cricket team, was one of the 57 applicants who had applied for the job. After the initial scrutiny last week, the BCCI had reduced the list of applicants for the post of Indian national team coach to 21. The governing body had assigned the Cricket Advisory Committee, which consists of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, with the task of interviewing the candidates before recommending their choice to the BCCI president Anurag Thakur.

The committee conducted these interviews on Tuesday in Kolkata, however, Sandeep Patil was not invited to attend it. Patil, who guided minnows Kenya to the semi-final of the 2003 World Cup, told, “No, I haven’t received any invitation,” to PTI.

When asked whether he knew the reason behind his rejection, he said, “No news on that front as yet.”

However, the 59-year-old has retained his faith on the Cricket Advisory Committee to make the right choice. “BCCI has a fabulous advisory board and I am sure it will make the right choice.

“I wish whoever takes the charge, ‘All the best’,” Patil added.

Praveen Amre though, has been interviewed by the committee, and the former Indian international has termed it as a 'good learning experience'.

"It was also a good learning experience for me as the panel wanted to know exactly how I would achieve the objective of India become the No. 1 team in all forms. We went in detail on each criterion listed in the job application," Amre was told ESPNcricinfo.

Lalchand Rajput has also presented his case in front of the commite, but Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri are reportedly the frontrunners for the job at the moment. Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the selection process has ended, and the BCCI are expected to reveal the new head coach in the next 48 hours.
