Ben Stokes Shares His Plans Following International Retirement.

The cricket world saw one of the most shocking retirements take place yesterday. The series between England and New Zealand now has another player who announced his retirement. Earlier it was Kane Williamson, and now, the English skipper, Ben Stokes has also joined the list. He missed out on the second Test against New Zealand, as he was involved in a nightclub incident.

But in the third Test, Stokes informed his teammates in England that this would be his last game as a captain and player for England. Being just 35 years old, his retirement feels to have come down way too early. Stokes was already able to put himself in the same bracket as Jacques Kallis, but he decided to retire early, leaving out many potential records he could have broken.

Recently, several things were questioned with the former England captain. One of them was about his future, or what he will be doing after his retirement from the game. Stokes confirmed that he will be looking forward to playing cricket elsewhere.

Our Take

It can be accepted that Ben Stokes had his career affected due to controversies. And looking at the way the recent nightclub incident made it to the headlines, he may have decided to step down from the game. But now it also opens doors for Stokes to participate in the franchise leagues, and he will surely be a big player in the same. One of the major questions which still remains is the league which he will be choosing to play in the coming months.
