Amit Mishra given permission to play for Haryana in Ranji Trophy

Amit Mishra has been given permission by the BCCI to play in the Ranji Trophy even though he has a contract with the National team. The leggie, who was dropped for the second Test against England, added that he struggled in making a quick transition from ODI to Test cricket in the Rajkot Test.

After being replaced by Jayant Yadav for the Vizag Test following an indifferent performance in the match against England at Rajkot, Amit Mishra has been cleared by the BCCI to play for Haryana in this season’s Ranji Trophy. The leggie thanked the BCCI through his official Twitter account stating:

Mishra struggled to make an impact claiming just three wickets in the two innings while England leggie, Adil Rashid picked up 7 wickets on the same track. The Indian spinner claimed that the biggest reason for his weak performance was the lack of Test cricket.

“I wouldn’t say I bowled very well. It did take time for me to get my rhythm, especially since I was playing a Test after a long time. I was on the bench for two Tests in the West Indies and then sat out for the New Zealand Test series,” Mishra told bcci.tv.

Moreover, the 33-year-old also felt that he struggled to make the transition to the longest format of the game as quickly as he would have liked.

“Also, I was coming off from the ODI series so the transition from ODIs to Tests did take some time. But, I believe there was an improvement in my bowling in the second innings and I bowled better.”
