India vs Sri Lanka | Rain may play spoilsport in the third Test
There is a possibility that tomorrow’s encounter between India and Sri Lanka may get spoiled by rain as there are 80% chances of precipitation in Pallekele. There were rains from two days and that resulted in both teams cancelling their pre-game practice sessions on both the days.
India won first two matches of the three-match Test series to take the series 2-0 in advance. The third Test will be the chance for Sri Lanka to salvage some pride, but the weather doesn't seem to be in their favour. Being a tropical country, rainfall is very much common in Sri Lanka, but thankfully, it hadn't affected the game in a big way in the first two Tests.
The weather has already restricted both teams from their practice sessions today. The pitch, which had been under covers overnight, underwent another drastic change a day before the game, with the greenish tinge slowly giving way to a browner one. The ground staff used hard brushes to take away what grass there was left on the pitch. The track looks a hard one, and the toss could once again play a decisive factor.
Pallekele is also a reasonably new Test venue and has hosted only five Tests previously, of which the first three ended in draws. Sri Lanka had the mortification of seeing Pakistan chase down a mammoth 377 with remarkable ease in July 2015, but their most recent game at this ground is nothing but pleasant.
