In a Natwest T20 Blast game, Yorkshire's Jack Leaning pulled off a superb catch at the deep extra cover to dismiss Lancashire's Arron Lilley that can be the contender for the catch of the year. Former England captain Nasser Hussain, who was on commentary, described the catch as “amazing”.

In the perennially hyped up 'Battle of the Roses' and more importantly two vital points to climb up the ladder, it was the 'Whites' to finish with the bragging rights in ongoing NatWest T20 Blast. But what made the headlines though was the way Leaning pulled off an incredible catch against Lancashire. Leaning was fielding on the cover boundary in the eighth over when a hard hit from Arron Lilley off a Liam Plunkett full toss looked to be headed over the rope.

But after initially misjudging the flight of the ball, Leaning leapt backwards and pouched a memorable one-handed catch to send the crowd into raptures at Headingley.

During his commentary stint, Nasser Hussain described the catch as “amazing”.

“He ran in, he made a difficult catch impossible and then he grabbed it,” he said. “We’ve seen some great catches – this will take some beating.”

Leaning’s catch reduced Lancashire to 3-63 in response to Yorkshire’s 7-182 as Lanchashire fell 19 runs short.
