Sharjeel Khan to face 5-year-ban for spot fixing in Pakistan Super League
Pakistan Test batsman Sharjeel Khan faces a 5-year-ban for spot fixing in this year’s Pakistan Super League after the three-member anti-corruption tribunal of the PCB found him guilty. The order stated that the batsman had given signals by squatting and stretching before playing two dot balls.
It was the PCB who had filed all its final arguments and pieces of evidence against Islamabad United’s Sharjeel Khan to the anti-corruption tribunal. And the 60 pages final order released by the tribunal has stated that Sharjeel had committed all five charges brought against him by the board.

The tribunal headed by retired Lahore High Court judge Asghar Haider has now confirmed that Sharjeel had allegedly met with bookmaker Yousuf Anwar at a cafe near Hotel Conrad in Dubai on February 9 with Khalid Latif ahead of the game against Peshawar Zalmi. The order also pointed out Sharjeel did all the actions, a stretch (a squat) before facing the balls after the first over, which would confirm the deal.
However, quite interestingly, despite the anti-corruption and security unit of the ICC grilling Sharjeel and Khalid soon after the Islamabad and Peshawar game, they are yet to produce any solid evidence through video recording, telephone recordings, audio clips, financial transactions or even pictures of Sharjeel meeting the bookmaker.
