Omkar Salvi recommended as the head coach by Mumbai players
Omkar Salvi, who has been the bowling coach of Mumbai senior team for 4 years, has been recommended by Mumbai players as the ideal choice for position of head coach. Mumbai Cricket Association invited top six Mumbai players to discuss future of Mumbai cricket, where players endorsed Salvi as coach.
The Mumbai players have recommended the name of Omkar Salvi for the position of head coach, which has been left vacant after former India stumper Sameer Dighe, who quit the job due to family reasons. The younger brother of former India and Mumbai pacer Avishkar Salvi, Omkar, has been a bowling coach with the Mumbai senior team for the past four seasons. His contract ended after the last season. Interestingly, Omkar has never played for Mumbai.
According to sources, Unmesh Khanvilkar, the secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), invited top six Mumbai players - skipper Aditya Tare, Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni and Shardul Thakur for a meeting to discuss the future of Mumbai cricket.
