Ireland vs India | Predicted XI for second T20I in Dublin
India thoroughly dominated their Irish opponents in the first T20I in Dublin and will look to seal the two-match series with another win tonight before they leave for England. Expect some experimentation with the starting XI tonight as coach Ravi Shastri may opt to give a chance to some new faces.
Openers
KL Rahul - The Indian management will look to offer Rohit Sharma some well-deserved rest ahead of an intense month ahead of him in England. Meanwhile KL Rahul, who scored a total of 659 runs over the course of 14 matches in the IPL this season could be given a chance to prove his worth and cement a spot in the Indian T20 squad.
Shikhar Dhawan - Left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan put up a strong show in the opening match against the Irish bowlers and will retain his position at the top of the batting order for the second match as well. A brilliant 74 from Dhawan ensured India raced off to a commanding start in the first match and he will look to do the same this time around as well.
Middle-order
Virat Kohli - Despite being dismissed for a duck, in the last over, in the first T20I against Ireland in the first match, the cricketing world knows how dangerous Kohli can be on his day. The Indian skipper will look to gain some confidence heading into the England segment of the tour in the next few weeks.
Manish Pandey - One of SRH’s most expensive signings in this year’s IPL, Pandey failed to live up to expectations during the tournament. However, Ravi Shastri & Co. felt that he had done enough to travel to England and he also featured in the first T20I. Let’s hope Pandey lives up to expectations this time around.
Suresh Raina - An impressive IPL season meant that Raina earned a recall to the Indian limited-overs team and also secured a starting spot in the first T20I a couple of days ago. However, the left-handed batsman departed after he scored a quickfire 10 off just six balls. He will look to do better in the second match and cement a spot in the middle-order in Kohli’s squad.
MS Dhoni - Dhoni
All-rounders
Hardik Pandya - The young lad from Baroda played just one ball in the first innings, but dispatched that for a six. A bit expensive with the ball but an active figure in the field, Pandya will retain his spot in the starting XI in the second T20I for sure.
Bowlers
Washington Sundar - The talented youngster, who was part of Kohli’s RCB squad this year, will look to get some match time in place of Yuzvendra Chahal, who picked up three wickets in the first match. Sundar will look to make the
Kuldeep Yadav - Yadav wrecked havoc along with Chahal in the first T20I where he picked up 4 wickets for just 21 years and also bowled a maiden over. India’s brightest spinner will look to add to that tally before they travel to England.
Umesh Yadav - Skipper Kohli and coach Shastri will look to offer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar some rest and give talented pacer - Umesh Yadav some well-deserved game time ahead of the England outing. Yadav was a constant threat in the opening powerplay overs during the entirety of IPL and Kohli might look to use him in a similar manner in the UK tour too.
Siddarth Kaul - A like for like replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, Kaul proved to be a dark horse in this year’s IPL as he played a pivotal role in this year’s tournament. Kaul could be given an opportunity for the Indian
