One man’s loss can be another man’s gain they say and that was exactly the case when Cape Town’s Farhaan Behardien was rewarded with four due to a fielding error by Giants’ Marco Marais. The latter failed to spot the ball under the fading floodlights hence rewarding the opposition with four runs.

Cricket can often play the role of a cruel teacher, constantly reminding us that life just isn’t fair sometimes. The most recent example of the same could be seen in the last night’s encounter between Cape Town Blitz and Mandela Bay Giants game in South Africa’s Mzansi Super League.

Batting First, the Cape Town Blitz side were at 144-4 in the 17th over and were heading towards a decent total with South African batsman Farhaan Behardien new to the crease. Fellow national side teammate was at the bowler's end and on the hunt for a wicket to help his side.

But something rather unusual took place on the fourth delivery of the same over. Behardien swivelled and pull a shot straight to fine leg, where Marco Marais was positioned. However, the fielder could not spot the ball as it landed next to him and bounced over the rope. Dala couldn’t believe his luck as Marais pointed to the lights which apparently caused him to lose focus on the pitch.
