In the 11th round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Andhra Pradesh defeated Uttar Pradesh in a nerve wrecker to strengthen their position on the points table. Elsewhere, Hyderabad chased down a target of 248 runs to win a thriller against Odisha and Chhattisgarh easily chased down 111 against Saurashtra.

Uttar Pradesh vs Andhra:

Brief Scores: Uttar Pradesh 330 for 4 in 50 overs (Akshdeep Nath 119*, Samarth Singh 115*; Karn Sharma 1-41) lost to Andhra 331 for 9 in 49.3 overs (D. Ravi Teja 79*, Ashwin Hebbar 64; Akshdeep Nath 3-44) by 1 wicket.

After winning the toss, Andhra decided to field first which proved to a bad decision as Uttar Pradesh batsmen put up a big total without losing too many wickets. Though at one stage, Uttar Pradesh were struggling at 45 for 3, a 73-run partnership between Suresh Raina and Samarth Singh stopped the free fall of wickets and from there on, Uttar Pradesh lost only a single wicket. The two centurions Akshdeep and Samarth remained not out on the scores of 119 and 115 respectively.

Chasing 331, Andhra openers started well with a partnership of 84 runs for the opening wicket. The required run rate was high but Andhra batsmen never let it slip out of hand, but yet they kept losing regular wickets. The high score of 79* by Ravi Teja says that it was the team effort that pulled the Andhra team home. For the eighth wicket, Ravi Teja and Karn Sharma had a crucial partnership, but Andhra lost a couple of more wickets to be nine down but Ravi Teja eventually managed to chase the target with lower order batsmen.

Saurashtra vs Chhattisgarh:

Brief scores: Saurashtra 110  34.4 overs (Arpit Vasavada 34; Sumit Ruikar 6-26) lost to Chhattisgarh 111 for 1 in 24.2 overs (Rishabh Tiwari 56*, Manoj Singh 36*) by 9 wickets.

In a lopsided encounter, Chhattisgarh thoroughly routed Saurashtra. Both the teams though are out of contention for the Qualification to the semi-finals. Saurashtra won the toss and chose to bat first which did not prove to be a wise decision as they were all out for 110 runs without a single batsman even scoring a half century. There were no major partnerships to show for Saurashtra as Sumit Ruikar (6-26) ran through their hapless batting order.

The chase was too easy for Chhattisgarh batsmen as they tracked down the total in under 25 overs. Losing the first wicket for a run out, Rishabh Tiwari and Manoj Singh shared a partnership of 109 for to take chhattisgarh home.

Odisha vs Hyderabad:

Brief scores: Odisha 247 for 8 in 50 overs (Govinda Poddar 93, Subhranshu Senapati 41; Chama V Milind 6-43) lost to Hyderabad 250 for 9 in 49.2 overs (Tanmay Agarwal 76, Akshath Reddy 63, Kolla Sumanth 43*; Pappu Roy 3-38) by one wicket.

It was a day of thrillers as Hyderabad narrowly avoided a scare even as their qualification now hangs on other teams’ performances. Odisha, after winning the toss, elected to bat first. The opening partnership lasted only for 14 runs, but then there was a century partnership of 104 runs. However, after that Odisha kept losing wickets at regular intervals and settled for 247 runs in their quota of 50 overs with Govinda Poddar being the highest scorer with 93 runs. The pick of the bowler for Hyderabad was V Milind who picked six wickets for the 43 runs he spent in his full quota.

Though Hyderabad started on a solid note with an opening stand of 119 runs, after that it was almost a collapse like situations where no batsman intended to stay long at the crease, except for Sumanth Kolla (43 runs) who ultimately won the match for Hyderabad. Sumanth and Satvikk had an important eighth-wicket partnership of 34 runs which proved to be crucial as Hyderabad scampered home in the last over for a narrow victory. Papu Roy picked 3 crucial wickets for his side even the team lost the match.
