Mumbai Cricket Association officials to face-off against BCCI in High court

BCCI’s decision to move the fourth ODI between India and West Indies to Brabourne Stadium instead of Wankhede has not gone down well with MCA members, who have filed a writ petition against BCCI. MCA authorities are demanding a shift of venue to the Cricket Club Of India in the petition.

Last Friday, the BCCI authorities had made the call of shifting the October 29 India-Windies ODI game to shift from the Wankhede Stadium to the picturesque Brabourne Stadium. This came after the Mumbai Cricket Association cited financial constraints in playing host to the one-dayer.

In response to that, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had written to BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri, seeking an explanation as to why the fourth ODI was shifted out of Wankhede Stadium. As per reports in TOI,  MCA's members will file a Writ Petition against the BCCI on Tuesday in the Bombay High Court for shifting the match to the Cricket Club of India, and will be asking for the decision to be reversed.

"We want the court to issue a stay order on the shifting of the match, because we were awarded this match as part of the rotation policy of the BCCI's Tours and Fixtures Committee. The same was informed to us by acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary. Does the CoA have the authority to move this match out from Wankhede?," an MCA member told TOI on Monday.

In addition to this, the ongoing battle between the BCCI and the MCA will directly impact the camp of the Indian women's cricket team, which is scheduled to begin from Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in November. 

"We still haven't confirmed to the BCCI that we can give the Wankhede for the camp. Till directions from the court, we can't host that camp, otherwise the members who've moved court can serve a notice to the MCA CEO (CS Naik)" the source added.
