Ravichandran Ashwin is known for his unconventional antics and unusual variations while bowling in his attempts to baffle the batsmen. On Friday, he gave the world another such bizarre moment when he bowled a delivery off the wrong foot and with a hand stationary to leave everyone watching confused.

In the Dindigul Dragons’ first match in the present season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League against Chepauk Super Gillies, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin showed his newest trick to the world in a moment that had everyone watching replays of the delivery on loop. With Chepauk needing 17 runs off just two balls to win, Ashwin decided to use the opportunity to unleash his latest manoeuvre.

Coming into bowl, he completely did away with his regular action and only rotated his bowling arm while keeping the other arm stationary throughout the run-up. Moreover, instead of ending the run-up with his right foot up front as per usual, Ashwin released the ball when his left-foot landed. The trick seemed to have worked for the batsman had no clue of what happened and completely missed the ball, though it missed the wickets.

Earlier in the year, Ashwin had made headlines for executing a similar stunt when he had ‘mankad’ Jos Buttler in an IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals. It’ll be interesting to see what Ashwin pulls out next from his bag of surprises.
