Kraigg Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich have sustained injuries which will force them to sit out the first match of the test series against India A, causing the selectors to bring in replacements for them. Meanwhile, John Campbell, who was picked for the senior team’s T20 squad, has also been replaced.

With the three-match unofficial four-day series against India ‘A’ scheduled to start on July 24, the selectors have had to make some calls in the final moments regarding the West Indies ‘A’ squad.

Opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite and wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich are both carrying minor injuries and have been advised to watch the first game from the sidelines, according to News18. This has led to two slots being opened up for other players, with a possibility of staying on the squad for future games too if either of the two fail to recover in time.

Left-handed opener Jeremy Solozano has been brought in in place of Brathwaite and is likely to commence the innings for the Carribean team. Wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton will play instead of Shane Dowrich.

Meanwhile, explosive batsman John Campbell has been picked for the senior West Indies squad to participate in the three-match T20I series against India. While the four-day matches are scheduled to begin on 24th, 31st July and the eighth of August respectively, the T20 series will commence from the third of August. Campbell will have to join the team in advance and thus will be rendered unavailable for playing for the ‘A’ team. Another opener, Montcin Hodge has been called up to take his place in the squad.

With Brathwaite the regular captain of the squad, Shamarh Brooks will be leading the team in his absence.
