Left-hand batsman Rinku Singh has been suspended by the BCCI for a period of three months for taking part in a T20 league in Abu Dhabi without seeking the Board’s permission. BCCI stated that it was a violation of the norms and strict action will be taken against any player doing so in the future.

An able left-hand batsman and an occasional right arm off break bowler, 21-year-old Rinku Singh has 24 List A appearances to his name in which he has scored at a steady average of 43, including seven fifties. He was also the leading run scorer for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy’s group stages in the 2018-19 season.

However, his future has received a setback after he played in an unofficial T20 tournament organized in Abu Dhabi, without asking from the board. The BCCI was quick to reprimand him for his actions and offer a stern warning to all the players not to commit such violations in the future through an official statement.

“As per the BCCI norms, a player registered with the board cannot play in any tournaments abroad without its permission. Rinku Singh, therefore ,has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months starting June 1, 2019. He has been removed from the current India A squad set to play a multi-day game against Sri Lanka A starting May 31, 2019. The BCCI will not tolerate such violations in the future and strict actions will be taken if a player is found violating the BCCI rules and regulations,” the statement read.
