Shahadat Hossain slammed with five years of ban for physical assault with teammate
Former Bangladesh pacer Shahadat Hossain has been slapped with a five-year ban - two of which suspension - and a fine of 3 lakh Taka by the BCB after he attacked his teammate Arafat Sunny during an NCL match in Khulna. Shahadat has accepted the verdict for the level 4 offence according to BCB.
Shahadat Hossain has been handed a five-year ban, which includes two years of suspension, and a fine of 3 lakh Taka by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for assaulting his teammate during a National Cricket League match. The incident took place during the second day's play between Dhaka Division and Khulna Division at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Arafat had reportedly commented that Shahadat was not competent to shine one side of the ball, which angered the paceman enough to launch an attack on the former before players came to the rescue. This antics of his is a level 4 offence according to BCB’s code of conduct.
While the match referee Akhtar Ahmed had come up with a one year ban, with nine months of suspension, for the former Bangladesh Test pacer, which he had accepted, the technical committee of BCB sentenced him a longer suspension and the monetary fine.
