Most-capped Pakistan women's player Sana Mir has decided to take a break from international cricket in order to set her future objectives and goals. The 33-year-old all-rounder is set to miss out on the ICC Women's Championship ODIs and the T20I series against England to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir has been a vital part of the Pakistan women's team over the years and also has been the most capped women's player for Pakistan. She has decided to take a break from international cricket in order to rephrase her career objectives and decide what she wants to achieve further in cricket.

“I have decided to take a break from international cricket and, as such, will not be available for selection for next month’s series against England,” Mir was quoted as saying in a release by Pakistan Cricket Board.

The specific reason or duration of the break is not known to the Pakistan Cricket Board or at least is not mentioned in the release. Pakistan are set to play without Mir against England for three-match ODI and T20I series that begins on December 9 at the Kinrara Oval.

Mir has taken 151 wickets in the 120 ODIs that she has represented Pakistan in and has also taken 89 wickets in 106 T20Is for Pakistan. These staggering numbers mean that her absence might cost the Pakistan team the experience that she brings to the table but it will also give some other youngsters a chance to prove their talent.

“My best wishes will remain with the Pakistan national women’s team in the series against England and I am sure they’ll produce their best cricket,” she concluded.
