West Indies pacer Miguel Cummins has penned down a three-year Kolpak deal with English county side Middlesex after impressing in a brief spell with the county earlier this season. The 29-year-old most recently represented the Windies in the first Test against India in Antigua two months ago.

West Indies quick Miguel Cummins has become the latest addition to the flurry of overseas cricketers who have signed Kolpak deals with English county sides owing to remuneration-related issues. The 29-year-old, who had a brief spell with Middlesex towards the fag end of the recently concluded season has now signed a three-year deal with the county after impressing teammates and coach Stuart Law in his brief spell which saw him take eight wickets from three outings.

"I had watched Miguel on video, but it is often only when you see someone play live that you get a true reflection of their capabilities," Law was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"I was immediately impressed by Miguel. He has control, is able to move the ball away from a right-handed batsman and, I believe, the ability to bowl fast, aggressive spells when conditions dictate," the Middlesex coach added.

Cummins, now 29, represented West Indies in 14 Tests picking 27 wickets in total, with his last outing in a Windies shirt coming against India in Antigua, a match where he went wicketless in both the innings.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that English international Dawid Malan, who captained Middlesex in the recently conlcuded domestic season across all formats, has decided to step down as captain.

"Middlesex played some fantastic cricket during the 2019 season, reaching the knockout stages of both white-ball competitions - achievements of which we can be proud. However, our form in the second division of the Championship was inconsistent."

"I have therefore decided to step down as captain and to allow someone else the opportunity to work with the coaching staff to readjust and hopefully guide the team back towards the top of the first division." Malan said in an official statement.
