Shashank Manohar looking at another term, reveals ICC official
With the formation of ICC’s new working group, chairman Shashank Manohar is eyeing to continue for another term from 2020 to 2022. Manohar’s current term as the chairman of the International Cricket Council ends in May 2020 which won’t be enough for major progress of the working group.
The ICC has been holding board meetings recently that have been majorly about Zimbabwe's reinstatement in international cricket. Besides that, another major development has taken place putting the BCCI out of the new set of office bearers in the formation of the said working group. Without any Indian representation, the group will be led by Cricket Australia's Earl Eddings and will start groundwork by February 2020.
One of the new office bearers, who are set to join office on Wednesday, said that for the working group to operate efficiently, chairman Shashank Manohar will be continuing office.
"What has happened in the last couple of years is now a thing of the past. We will be sitting down for a number of meetings in the next two days and one of the primary areas of focus will be India's position with regards to the ICC. Some of the moves seem to show a specific line of thinking and also, this formation of the new working group also means that Chairman Shashank Manohar might be looking at another term from 2020 till 2022,” revealed the official, reported Times Now.
"Firstly, no timeline has been set for the working group to provide a presentation on the way forward and if Manohar is to continue -- the groundwork shall start by February 2020 -- and you can't expect the team led by Eddings to provide any major input before Manohar's term ends in May 2020," the official explained.
