Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Stars have re-signed Nepal's spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane for the upcoming season of the tournament. The teenager played eight matches for the Stars last season, but then had to leave the team due to his Bangladesh Premier League commitments.

Sandeep Lamichhane has been one of the most sought after names in franchise cricket in the past two years and the leggie sent shockwaves around Australia with his astounding performances with the ball in the 2018 edition of BBL. In just eight matches, Lamichhane claimed 11 wickets at an economy rate of 6.57. He was an integral part of the Stars campaign which saw them reach the final, but unfortunately had to leave mid-way due to BPL commitments.

However, this time around, the Melbourne-based franchise have locked in his services for the entirety of the tournament and an elated Trent Woodhill, the list manager of the Stars, can't wait to see the teen bowl in tandem with another leggie, Adam Zampa.

"We're really excited to have Sandeep back at the Stars. He's a young, energetic and talented legspinner. To secure his signature for the entire Big Bash season is a great testament to the level of the competition and we can't wait to see what he produces this season working in tandem with Adam Zampa," Woodhill was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"He was definitely a fan favourite last season, so it's great that fans will have the opportunity to come and watch someone so exciting for the entire Big Bash campaign," he added.

The young leg-spinner from Nepal, who played for Delhi Capitals in the 2019 edition of the IPL, also expressed his excitement over returning to the Stars.

"It was great fun and a great experience for me last year and I can't wait to join the Stars again," he said. "I would love to see all the Stars fans and especially the Nepalese fans supporting us again this year," he said.

Melbourne Stars, under newly-appointed coach David Hussey would be looking to put behind the disappointment of last season and try to win the coveted trophy for the first time.
