A team owner at the Tamil Nadu Premier League has spoken up about the revenue sharing model used in the league and has asked for certain changes to it. The anonymous owner said that in order to avoid corruption and revenue loss it is important to have a better revenue sharing method in TNPL.

After reports of corruption in the Tamil Nadu Premier League made news, a massive amount of disrepute has been brought to the name of the T20 contest. After multiple players reported corrupt approaches to the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), on Monday, the team owners have decided to demand a better revenue-sharing model as well and an upgrade to the quality of officials appointed for the tournament.

These reports of corruption have led to questions being raised regarding VB Chandrasekhar’s suicide which can be linked to the corruption situation. The TNPL has formed a committee to investigate the issue.

“TNCA should come up with a better revenue sharing method so that the franchises do not suffer by way of losses. Only those with proper financial background should be allowed to own teams in the league,” a team owner, on conditions of anonymity, told PTI,

Another anonymous team owner demanded severe action if anyone is found guilty of corruption “It is sad that match-fixing allegations have cropped up. Such things will damage the TNPL’s image to a great extent. Strict action should be taken against anyone found to be involved in such things,” he said.

He suggested that the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association should hold the league only in bigger towns in order to reduce suspicious activities. “To stop these murky things, the TNPL matches should be conducted only in bigger towns and only where there are franchises,” he added.

“I have complained several times to the authorities about the umpiring but nothing has changed. In an effort to clean up things, the BCCI should ensure that their top 20 to 30 umpires are sent to officiate in leagues like TNPL,” he spoke about the quality of match officials in the league.
