Australia's cricketer-turned-pundit Brad Hogg believes Lucknow Super Giants' promising youngster Ayush Badoni can be a threat to the fast bowlers soon. Badoni scored 54 off 41 balls on his debut against Gujarat Titans and followed it up with an unbeaten 9-ball 19 against Chennai Super Kings.

Ayush Badoni has been one of the most promising finds of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The 22-year-old, who is representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has played two delightful knocks in the opening two fixtures of the franchise to grab a lot of attention from all over the world.

In their tournament opener against Gujarat Titans, Badoni scored 54 off 41 balls after coming to bat at No. 6, when the Super Giants were reduced to 29/4. LSG’s next game was against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and they were chasing a mammoth target of 211. Coming at No. 6, the youngster smashed two massive sixes, and remained unbeaten on 19 off 9 balls to help his side reach the target with three balls to spare.

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg heaped praise on the LSG youngster. Hogg, while speaking on his Youtube channel, compared Badoni’s latest knock with the one that was hit by MS Dhoni. The former CSK skipper, earlier in that contest, was unbeaten on 16 off 6 balls, including two fours and one six.

“Very similar to Dhoni’s innings. One thing I like about Badoni was the first ball Dwayne Bravo bowled him the bouncer, and he was prepared to take that on, which was wide,” Hogg said.

Further, Hogg mentioned that Badoni, still new in IPL, will become a much more improved batsman very soon. The Australian even felt that he can be a threat to the fast bowlers after playing some cricket in the cash-rich league.

“Remember, he is only relatively new to this level of cricket. It is not going to be long before he picks up the pace and will be able to capitalise to hit this kind of shot. He looked comfortable while attempting that one. Once he picks up the pace, watch out fast bowlers,” the Australian added.
