England all-rounder Tom Curran will miss the IPL 2022 and the first two months of the County season due to a lower back stress fracture. Curran left the ongoing BBL 2021-2022 due to discomforts in his back after playing four matches, and will undergo a rehabilitation period for the next few months.

Tom Curran, the England all-rounder will miss the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the first two months of the county season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture of the lower back. The 23-year-old had recently pulled out of the ongoing Big Bash League 2021-2022 due to discomforts in his back, and the England all-rounder will now undergo a rehabilitation period for the next few months.

Surrey, the county club for which Curran is playing for released a statement on Monday confirming the injury of the all-rounder.

"He will now undergo rehabilitation at The Kia Oval under the guidance of Surrey's medical staff," the club said.

Curran has been a part of the IPL since 2018, and has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. However, Curran's injury will keep him out of the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. Curran was called up as cover for his brother Sam Curran in the England T20 World Cup 2021 squad, but the all-rounder did not get to play a game for his side in the marquee event.

Also, Surrey has stated that he would "not return to cricket before the start of the Vitality Blast" which pushes back his return to May 2021.

Curran's brother, Sam Curran has been on the sidelines after he faced an injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings in the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE.
