Nothing is more satisfying for a bowler than the sound of stumps being shattered by a perfect delivery. This was exactly the scene in the final match of the Women’s Hundred between London Spirit and Welsh Fire, where Shabnim Ismail delivered a stunning ball that secured Danielle Gibson’s wicket.

‌Chasing 116 runs, London Fire struggled early with Shabnim Ismail dismissing Meg Lanning, followed by Cordelia Griffith falling to Georgia Davis. However, Heather Knight and Georgia Redmayne steadied the innings, taking the score to 44/2. Ismail struck again, removing Knight, but Danielle Gibson and Redmayne kept the scoreboard moving. London Fire then required 37 runs off 35 deliveries, eventually reducing it to 28 off 30 as they edged closer to victory. At this juncture, Ismail stuck again and got rid of Gibson with a beautiful delivery.

On the 71st delivery,  Shabnim Ismail took her mark and ran in from over the wicket. She delivered the ball with a precise length pitching it just outside the fourth stump line. As the ball struck the pitch, it deviated sharply angling in that made it difficult for the batter. Danielle Gibson was anticipating a different trajectory as she readied herself to defend. Her bat was positioned to counter what she expected to be a more straightforward delivery. However, Ismail’s delivery jagged back violently after pitching, catching Gibson completely off balance. The ball sneaked in towards her, beating her defensive shot and sneaking through the gap between bat and pad crashing the off stump. Seeing Ismail’s delivery, the Twitterverse too couldn't contain the excitement and praised the delivery.
