Watch | Odean Smith channels SKY with a stunning catch at the ropes in CPL
Suryakumar Yadav’s iconic catch in the ICC World T20 finals has made a significant impact, and now many players are emulating it. A similar incident was seen in the game between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots where Odean Smith replicated something similar.
On the last ball of the 14th over, Dominic Drakes delivered a slower ball targeting the middle and leg stump. The Oval Invincibles skipper aimed for a six but mistimed the shot, sending the ball high off the leading edge towards deep backward square leg. Smith displayed exceptional tracking skills and positioned himself perfectly to take the catch near the boundary rope. In a split second, he realized he might step into the cushion, so he cleverly flicked the ball into the air while stepping outside the boundary line to maintain balance. He then re-entered the field of play just in time to complete a spectacular one-handed catch. Smith celebrated with a high five to Shamsi, while Drakes performed a fist pump in celebration.
What a Grab!
