Suryakumar Yadav’s iconic catch in the ICC World T20 finals has made a significant impact, and now many players are emulating it. A similar incident was seen in the game between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots where Odean Smith replicated something similar.

‌St Kitts had a strong start with the ball after winning the toss as Anrich Nortje dismissed Teddy Bishop in the second over. However, Fakhar Zaman and Kofi James forged a 70-run partnership, taking the score to 67/1 in nine overs. Tabraiz Shamsi then showcased his skill by removing the well-set Zaman, and James also headed back to the pavilion in the 11th over. Unfortunately, Sam Billings was unable to make an impact and was dismissed in the 14th over, thanks to a stunning catch by Odean Smith.

On the last ball of the 14th over, Dominic Drakes delivered a slower ball targeting the middle and leg stump. The Oval Invincibles skipper aimed for a six but mistimed the shot, sending the ball high off the leading edge towards deep backward square leg. Smith displayed exceptional tracking skills and positioned himself perfectly to take the catch near the boundary rope. In a split second, he realized he might step into the cushion, so he cleverly flicked the ball into the air while stepping outside the boundary line to maintain balance. He then re-entered the field of play just in time to complete a spectacular one-handed catch. Smith celebrated with a high five to Shamsi, while Drakes performed a fist pump in celebration.

What a Grab!
