Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been sidelined from the current tour of England due to a back injury. The 25-year-old experienced back pain following Australia's 46-run defeat in the third ODI and was omitted for the fourth ODI at Lord's after undergoing scans in London.

‌Cricket Australia (CA) has officially announced Green's injury on their website, stating that he will return home to initiate his recovery ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Test series following the scans that confirmed a back injury. The statement noted, “ the extent of the injury and a timeline for his return wouldn't be known until the 25-year-old arrives home in Perth for further assessment.” The report also mentioned, “Australia is hopeful Cameron Green will be fit for their blockbuster home Test summer against India after the allrounder was ruled out of the ongoing ODI tour of England with a back injury.”

Australia has faced several injury setbacks during their UK tour, with Green becoming the fifth player ruled out, joining Nathan Ellis, Xavier Bartlett, Riley Meredith, and Ben Dwarshuis.

CA also indicated that if further assessments in Perth reveal a more serious injury for Green, it could enable Smith to revert to his former batting position while allowing Head to stay at his preferred No. 5 spot. Green’s injury has also reopened the opportunity for specialist openers Cameron Bancroft, Marcus Harris, and Matthew Renshaw to earn a recall to the squad.

Later this year, Australia will face India in the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, beginning on November 22 with the first Test in Perth. The series continues with the second Test from December 6 to 10 at Adelaide Oval, featuring the day-night format under the stadium lights, followed by the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18. The traditional Boxing Day Test is scheduled for December 26 to 30 at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Finally, the fifth and concluding Test will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7,
