IND vs SA | Twitter impressed as Marco Jansen channels inner footballer to continue stay in middle
Batters often depend on their footballing skills to survive in the middle and Marco Jansen just reminded that during the first Test against India in Kolkata. The South African all-rounder, after defending the ball, juggled it away, right in the nick of time to continue his stay at the crease.

South Africa were quicko ff the blocks after opting to bat against India in the first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday. Openers Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram cumulatively scored eight fours and a six to take the side to 57/0 in the first 10 overs.
However, Jasprit Bumrah brought the home side right into the game with two wickets in two consecutive overs to send both openers back to the dressing room. The visitors could never recover from that as they slipped to 146/6 in the second session, though Wiaan Mulder and Tony de Zorzi got off to promising starts.
Mohammed Siraj, after an indifferent start to the game, came back strongly, trapping Kyle Verreyne right in front of the wicket with th first ball of his 10th over. New batter Marco Jansen was greeted to the crease by the pacer with a couple of bouncers before he got bat to ball with a length delivery that pitched around off stump.
The ball bounced right under the batter before making its way onto the stumps with an edgy Jansen searching for the red cherry. However, he gained his composure right in the nick of time to spot the ball and then juggled it away from the wicket with his right foot.
Pacer Siraj thought he almost got one more before a timely intervention from the tall batter had him standing with a wide grin, with hands on his head. Twitter was impressed with Jansen’s footballing skills, which saw him extend his stay for another ball, before being castled by the same bowler off the next.
Lol!
