Rajasthan Royals Under Scanner as BCCI Initiates Action Post RCB Clash.

The IPL has been surrounded by a couple of controversies over the last few days. As the gloves controversy gains attention, the BCCI has decided to take its action on another one. This happened in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, when the match was in the favour of Rajasthan Royals.

During the game, the team manager, Romi Bhinder, was caught using his phone in the dugout. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was also sitting beside him, as the video immediately went viral on the social media. As per the recent reports, the BCCI ACSU (Anti-Corruption and Security Unit) has stepped into this matter, issuing a show-cause notice to RR, which needs to be replied within 48 hours.

Devajit Saikia, the Secretary of the BCCI, has responded to this incident. He said,“Managers using a mobile phone is permissible, but we need to find out whether there was any violation of rules. That fact-finding exercise is now on. Once it is complete, we will take necessary steps depending on the outcome.”

Our Take

The action taken by the BCCI remains to be seen as the board has already given a show-cause notice for the same. Depending on RR’s reply, it will be seen how the BCCI will decide to punish the team for this action. Some reports even suggest that Romi Bhinder already got the permission to bring the phone to the dugout but it remains unclear.
