Not distracted by Real Madrid exit talk, says Gareth Bale
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale says he is not distracted by the speculation over his future at Real Madrid. The Welshman was expected to leave the La Liga giants this summer after coach Zinedine Zidane froze him out of the team, but a long term injury to Marco Asensio forced the club to keep Bale.
Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has admitted that he remains focused despite the ongoing talks of him wanting out of the Santiago Bernabeu side. He has been criticised for failing to repeat the performances that he showed at Tottenham with Cristiano Ronaldo making up the difference. When the Portuguese legend left the Los Blancos last season, Bale was expected to take over and carry the team forward but injuries saw him struggle to make an impact and the Los Blancos failed to win any trophy last season.
That saw the La Liga giants transfer list Bale and Chinese team Jiangsu Suning offered him a way out with a three-year deal attached with a £1 million-a-week wages. However, the Los Blancos rejected the move as they wanted a transfer fee which left the Welshman angry and upset. That has seen Spanish football expert Guillem Balague say that the Welshman is now actively looking to leave Real Madrid and will push for a move in January. But in a recent interview, Bale went on to admit that he loves playing for Wales and is not distracted by any transfer talk or Real Madrid.Â
"I love meeting up with Wales, everyone knows that; I haven't got anything to clear my mind about. We have a task at hand to try to qualify and this is a massive game. We want to put ourselves right back in the mix," said Bale reports the BBC.
In July, Real Madrid Zinedine Zidane admitted that he hopes the Wales international leaves soon but changed his mind after injuries saw the club need Bale to remain at the club. Marco Asensio's season-ending injury and Eden Hazard's hamstring problems proved to be Bale's gain as he has returned to the team and has been extremely productive in front of goal. The 30-year-old has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 7 games for Real Madrid and only Karim Benzema has either created or scored more goals for the club than him.Â
"I think you play with a lot of emotion and anger comes into it of course, but I am just trying to play football, to enjoy it as much as I can and give my best, whether I am here or in Madrid. Whenever I step onto the pitch I give 100% to help the team and I will continue to do that," concluded Bale.
