Coventry City summer signing, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, has made progress in his bid to feature under manager Frank Lampard. The 21-year-old winger, who joined from Macarthur FC, struggled with injuries through the autumn but has recently returned to action. He made brief appearances against Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday and contributed to an hour of competitive play for the Under-21s, helping them win 3-0 against Sheffield Wednesday.
The summer signing of Raphael Borges Rodrigues by Coventry City is showing positive signs as he works towards a place in Frank Lampard's first-team plans. The 21-year-old winger joined the club in June from Macarthur FC, but an unfortunate string of injuries kept him sidelined for much of the autumn and winter.
However, with the new year, Rodrigues has started to regain fitness and recently featured in several matches. His first appearance came as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw against Cardiff City on New Year's Day, followed by a 15-minute cameo in the FA Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday.
Rodrigues also made progress with the under-21s, playing an hour in their 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday's youth team. He contributed to the second goal by assisting Aidan Dausch, who set up Elliot Betjemann for the finish.
Despite missing a one-on-one opportunity, Rodrigues earned a penalty, although Dausch's attempt was saved. Coventry City will now hope to see Rodrigues make a more significant impact as they face Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday, seeking their first league win since Boxing Day.
