Neymar clarified on social media that it was a mutual decision with CBF to avoid risks and ensure full recovery.

Ahead of Brazil’s crucial FIFA double match week against Colombia and Argentina in the South American Qualifiers, Neymar has been officially withdrawn from the national team. The 33-year-old forward continues to recover from discomfort in his left leg, aggravated in early March, and is still rehabilitating from a serious knee injury sustained in October 2023 that sidelined him for nearly a year.

Brazil’s head coach confirmed that Neymar, along with two other players, was released from the squad to focus on recovery at their respective clubs. Promising young forward Endrick has been called up to replace Neymar in the squad for the 13th and 14th matchdays of the Qualifiers.

Neymar took to social media to address the speculation, stating that the decision was mutual between him and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), aimed at avoiding any risks and ensuring complete recovery. He expressed disappointment at not being able to represent Brazil but acknowledged the importance of prioritizing his health.

The situation sparked controversy in Brazil as Neymar missed Santos' crucial Campeonato Paulista semifinal against Corinthians, which they lost 2-1. Criticism intensified after Neymar was seen attending the Rio de Janeiro Carnival days before the game, raising questions about his fitness and commitment.
