With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal has set its sights on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike as an alternative to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. The Gunners initially pursued Isak but were deterred by Newcastle’s £150 million asking price. Instead, Arsenal has inquired about Ekitike, who is valued at around £60 million by Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old French striker has been in impressive form, scoring 19 goals for Frankfurt this season. He initially joined the Bundesliga club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain before securing a permanent transfer last summer for €16.5 million (£13.9 million). Ekitike further boosted his reputation by scoring a hat-trick in France Under-21s' 5-3 victory over England last week.
Arsenal faces competition from Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich, who are also monitoring Ekitike’s progress. Frankfurt is reportedly expecting to sell him this summer due to high demand.
Ekitike recently spoke about his former teammate Omar Marmoush, who moved to Manchester City in January for £59 million. While praising Marmoush, he hinted at a potential move to the Premier League himself. As Arsenal looks to strengthen its attack, securing Ekitike could be a crucial signing ahead of the new season.
