Gujarat Fortungiants’ coach Manpreet Singh has said that in an attempt to do better, his team played in a rash and hasty manner which cost them the game. He also added that because of defense’s instability, the raiders were not able to sustain their strong start and hence their plans failed.

Gujarat Fortunegiants have been the most consistent team in the past two seasons but in this season they suffered their seventh loss last night in the 11 matches they have played so far. Haryana Steelers was able to inflict three all-outs onto them and that makes it pretty evident the bad form that Gujarat was in last night’s match. Courtesy of the first all-out the Giants finished the first half with a score of 11-20. In the raiding department, Abolfazl Maghsodlou started strong but wasn’t able to continue the form throughout the match.

“The defence didn’t play well at the start. After the first All-Out, we lost the game because we played in a rash and hasty manner while trying to play quickly. So, the defence couldn’t get set and, even though the raiders were scoring well at the start, they couldn’t sustain it. Our plans weren’t successful,” coach Manpreet Singh said in the post-match press conference.

In the defence Gujarat was only able to score eight points, GB More and Ruturaj Koravi were the highest scorer with two points each. Whereas Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal were only able to score one point each as all their plans against Haryana's raiders failed. In the raiding department, despite the good start, they were able to score only 16 points. Both the main raiders, Abolfazl and Rohit Gulia scored eight points each and failed to make an impact.

“Sachin picked up a slight knock on his knee in Ahmedabad. The doctor has advised one to two weeks rest, which should be completed by the next match and we’ll look to bring him back into the team after that,” coach Manpreet said while answering a question about Sachin Tanwar’s absence.

Also with this loss, Gujarat fell on the points table to the ninth place and so will look forward to staging a comeback soon.

“Look, we’re trying our level best like all the teams are. We’re trying to forge a comeback in the league, but we’re not getting the results and have been running into a lot of hard luck. We’ll continue to keep trying and work even harder in our practice sessions,” coach Manpreet signed off.
