Bengaluru Bulls’ top performer in the match against Gujarat Saurabh Nandal said that even though he performed well, it was a bittersweet performance as the results were not what they hoped for. Bengaluru lost their first home game by nine points last night and are currently sixth on the table.

Bengaluru Bulls' strength lies in their raiding unit and as that they didn’t work last night as they ended up losing the match against Gujarat Fortunegiants by 23-32. They started strong as both Pawan Sehrawat and Rohit Kumar got points in their first raids but they weren’t able to continue that momentum. The defenders saved grace for the team as they got more points than the raiding unit. Their hero in the defence was Saurabh Nandal with eight tackle points which includes two super tackles.

“It’s bittersweet. I'm pleased with my performance but the result, obviously, was not the one we would had hoped for,” Nandal said when asked about his performance in the post-match press conference.

The defensive unit scored 13 points as compared to the raiding department's nine points. Saurabh Nandal was well supported by Mahender Singh who finished that match with four tackle points but apart from them, no one was able to make a significant impact.

“They played extremely well. Saurabh was outstanding. Mahender (Singh) was also phenomenal. The raiders could have done well to support them. But I’m pleased with how the defenders performed,” skipper Rohit Kumar said about the defenders' performance.

Raiding Department of Bengaluru Bulls was a complete mess last night as none of the raiders was able to score more than three points. They did as many as 14 unsuccessful raids. The Bulls missed a third raider in the squad as both Rohit and Pawan were not in form and were able to score only three points each.

“The game was being dictated by the third raid. We managed to tackle them during their do-or-die raids, and we returned the favour during our third raid. So, had one do-or-die raid gone in our favour at the back end of the game, we could have won the match. So, that’s where we lacked,” Rohit Kumar said.

Bengaluru did have a chance to finish the match with a point difference of less than seven but by the end there were only two players left one of which got out while defending in Gujarat’s last raid and the other was a defender who was just supposed to validate the raid and kill the clock but Gujarat had other plans. Gujarat covered the walk and didn’t let Amit Sheoran cross the line and tackled him in last second and hence inflicting an all-out and increasing the lead by nine points to finish the match.

“It’s good to be back home in Bengaluru after two years. I'd like to tell the fans to not be too disheartened by this result. There are still three matches to go at home. We'll give our best in the upcoming games and improve the results. So, keep believing in the team and keep supporting us,” Rohit signed off.
