Leg spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who were brilliant in the recently concluded IPL season, have been added to the Afghanistan Test squad to face India in Bengaluru Test. The Afghanistan national team are set to play India in Bangalore starting June 14 which will be their maiden Test.

India are scheduled to play Afghanistan in a historic one-off Test match in a couple of weeks which will see a side led by Test deputy Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of an injured Virat Kohli. Afghanistan recently announced their 16-man squad for the upcoming Test led by skipper Asghar Stanikzai among which are the two highly-rated spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The two master spinners aged 19 and 17 years respectively were outstanding in the recently concluded 2018 season of the IPL.

Rashid was exemplary for Sunrisers Hyderabad chipping in with 21 wickets from 17 matches while also contributing with the bat. 17-year old Rahman, on the other hand, was spectacular for Kings XI Punjab for whom he picked up 14 wickets from 11 matches this year.

Apart from those two, Zahir Khan and Hamza Hotak were also named in a 16-strong squad for the historic one-off Test in Bangalore starting June 14. Asghar Stanikzai will captain the Test debutants in the five-day game which will be played after three T20I’s against Bangladesh.

The T20 games will be played in the city of Dehradun on June 3, 5 and 7.
