Scotland and Netherlands to play T20I tri-series in Ireland

Ireland Cricket team is set to host Scotland and Netherlands cricket teams in a T20 International tri-series, which will be starting on September 15 in Malahide. The upcoming series will comprise six games in the T20 format where each of the three teams will play each other twice.

After the Euro T20 Slam was called off, Ireland got the time and the opportunity to accommodate the said tri-series which will aid the teams towards preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier which scheduled for October.

While Ireland will play their first game since the historic Lord's Test in July, where they bowled England for 85 in the first innings, the Netherlands team had last made their international appearance in June, when they played and won an overseas series against Zimbabwe.

"We are looking forward with excitement to some high quality T20 international matches against our old rivals Ireland and Netherlands," said Malcolm Cannon, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland on Friday, according to Cricbuzz. "We know we will always have a fiercely competitive challenge against these two nations.

"Scotland come off the back of winning three out of four ODIs played in Aberdeen earlier in August in the inaugural leg of the World Cup League 2 competition, so the team is feeling confident. However, the change of format to T20 will require some adjustment and the squad and coaching team continue to work hard to prepare for the challenges ahead."

The six-match tri-series will be open to the public without any entry fee.
