Reports | Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah head to meet ECB Officials
The two newly elected officials Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah will be in London on December 12 to meet ECB chairman Colin Graves and decide the countries' future in line with ICC’s Future tour programme. The meeting is expected to be a friendly one, as both sides discuss future tours.
BCCI’s president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah will be flying to London on 12th December to meet the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), with the board all set to spell their priorities over the future calendar events. Earlier, the ECB expressed their displeasure over the draft of the next Future Tours Programme (FTP).Â
ECB’s chairman Colin Graves wrote to the ICC, expressing the issues that they have with the FTP in the next calendar year. "The ECB will not be in a position to support the proposal for ICC events from 2023-31. The impact of the proposed schedule on bilateral cricket is a serious concern for ECB," Graves wrote.
"He was anyways scheduled to make a personal visit. He's just clubbing work with it since he's there anyway. Jay will be joining him," said a source close to the Times of India.Â
However, reports suggest that BCCI too would join hands with ECB and the Australian Cricket Board in rejecting the suggestions for inclusion in the FTP. Further, ICC took a stand, to deduct the Indian board’s revenue if it does not receive the tax-exemption from the Indian government.Â
"Now, the catch here is that the ICC chairman (Shashank Manohar) is from India. He's twice been BCCI president. He's been associated with cricket administration in India for more than two decades. To top it, he's a lawyer. He understands these intricacies better than most," reported Times of India.Â
