VIDEO | Angry David Warner lashes out at Tim Southee for targetting static Joe Burns
Itâs not every day that one would witness a heated moment when New Zealand, the ânice guysâ, are involved in a game. But if you ask David Warner, he would tell you a different story as he was witness to Tim Southeeâs unanticipated aggression. However, the Aussie didnât quite like it.
Justin Langerâs men are a closed knit group, a fact that is known to one and all. The camaraderie of the team is comparable to that of New Zealandâs, the one that is rated highly. So donât be surprised if David Warner comes to the rescue of his partner, which, in this case, was Joe Burns.Â
By the time Australia, who won the Toss, had played the first six overs, they looked settled in against the New Zealand attack. Debutant Lockie Ferguson leaked quite some runs in his first three overs, precisely 17. So the batsmen had enough space to breathe. But Southee, who is spearheading the attack in Boultâs absence, was seemingly frustrated as was seen in the first delivery of his fourth over.Â
Burns faced a fullish delivery from Southee and defended it back to the bowler without moving from his crease. Southee, on the other hand, collected the ball and threw it back targetting the Stumps. But what made it absurd was that Burns, who got hit on his pads, was static throughout this incident. As Burns stood stunned, Southee went back smiling but was interrupted by an angry Warner, who was at the non-strikerâs end. Southee, in his defence, answered that he was aiming at the stumps. However, Warner wasnât convinced.
The Aussie was heard saying âHey! Come on, manâ as made his walk towards Burns. Southee looked back as Warner stopped to make another comment: âYouâre supposed to be Mr Nice guys!âÂ
While the Ashes is the rivalry we talk about so much, the trans-Tasman heat is an unmissable event.Â
