My aim is to be back after international break, reveals Tyler Adams

RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams says he is ready and approaching his much-awaited return to return to footballing action post the international break after being out of action thanks to a series of injuries. Adams has just played 64 minutes of Bundesliga football for RB Leipzig since March 30.

Tyler Adams will make his much-awaited comeback after the international break and hopes to contribute for RB Leipzig. He had an incredible start to life at Leipzig where the team were unbeaten in 9 outings when Adams featured. Sadly, a groin injury kept the 20-year-old out of action for 8 games and Adams was only able to return on the final matchday against Werder Bremen last season. Throughout the summer and pre-season, the American midfielder suffered small niggling injuries that hampered his rehabilitation and obstructed his return to football.

He hasn’t featured under the new coach Julian Nagelsmann but could soon make debut under the former Hoffenheim coach post the international break. That's the aim atleast for the American as he went on to admit that his target is a return after the international break. The 20-year-old further added that he believes that he's in much better shape now than he was before the injuries.

"The biggest challenge I faced with the groin injury was that one day I woke up and felt great, but the very next day I woke up and had complaints again. That was crazy. When I was fit again at the start of the season and returned to the team training, I got a knock on the sole of my foot during training which threw me back a few weeks," Adams told Kicker.

"Mentally, I'm in much better shape because I'm getting better every day. The plan is that I'll do rehab training until the end of the international break and that I can get back into training after the game against Wolfsburg. Whether it's one day earlier or later isn’t important, that’s up to the coach at the end of the day."

RB Leipzig have enjoyed a sensational start to the 2019/20 season as they went unbeaten in the first five fixtures of Bundesliga and then suffering the only defeat of the season to Schalke. However, while they have managed to recover, Leipzig still sit two points behind shock leaders Borussia Monchengladbach and with games against Wolfsburg, SC Freiburg and Wolfsburg again. Adams has missed some big games due to injury as he could not play against Bayern Munich which left him a little frustrated.

“It's hard to watch the boys in the big games. But you have to take the frustration and turn it into positive energy," concluded the midfielder.
