Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene silenced an MS Dhoni fan on Twitter by displaying his savagery through words on the eve of Usain Bolt’s retirement. This isn’t the first time that we have seen him returning with witty comebacks.

It is a virtue of the greats to reply to critics with the subtlest of nuances and someone like Sri Lanka’s Jayawardene, who is known for his calm demeanour and classy shot selection, has been doing it for years on the field. However, thanks to the emergence of social media, we get to see his off-the-field talents from time to time.

He hasn’t lost his precision in striking back, it would seem, and the latest such instance came when the former Sri Lanka skipper posted a tweet congratulating Jamaica’s Usain Bolt after the last race of his career.

While most Twitteratis liked the sporting gesture from the 40-year-old, an unrelated reply, which is a very common thing in Twitter, sprung up from someone, who seemed to be a Mahendra Singh Dhoni fan.

The lucky guy got Jayawardene’s attention with it and he wasn’t to going to let go of such a chance. Jayawardene’s reply pretty much shut him up.
