Ex-Pakistan opener Aamer Sohail has indirectly accused the Pakistan team of fixing matches in the ongoing CT and slammed Sarfraz Ahmed for overpraising the team after beating England. He also alleged that more than the players, external forces that were responsible for Pakistan's recent results.

After losing to India in the first game, Pakistan managed to stun South Africa and destroy the tournament favourites England to enter the final of the tournament. Between the two significant wins, they also brushed aside Asian rivals Sri Lanka. So, understandably, skipper Sarfraz was on cloud nine after entering the finals and credited his team for the sweet turnaround of fortunes.

“Nobody recognised us, nobody thought we’ll qualify for the final,” said Sarfraz after defeating England in the first semifinal. “Credit to the team and the team management for how we came back after the loss to India.

“After the first loss, we were very down. But the team management boosted us really well. After the India match, we just motivated the guys. We told them ‘don’t worry about the India match – this is gone, we have two matches; if we play good cricket, definitely we will win this tournament’. Now we are in the final. I’m very happy as a captain.”

However, Sarfraz's comments didn’t go down well with Sohail, who lashed out the skipper by saying an external factor was responsible for the victory rather than the players. In an interview with a Pakistani news channel, the southpaw said, “Sarfaraz needs to be told that he hasn’t done anything special at all as Pakistan was forced to win the games by someone.”

He even went on to add, “We all know what happens and what not, and I can’t tell you how they have won the games, I can’t name them.”

The former captain concluded his allegation by saying, “Sarfaraz should just play his cricket. We know everyone’s calibre and if you do well we will praise you and vice-versa.”
