Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar reviewed a bowled decision in the second innings of their first Test against Sri Lanka, leaving everyone in laughs. Asela Gunaratne's delivery broke through Sarkar’s defence to shave the top of his off stump, but the batsman inexplicably went for a review.

Bangladesh has had a recent history of producing funny moments on the cricket field - be it the premature celebration by Mushfiqur Rahim in the ICC World T20 against India or Subashis Roy’s celebration, when Kusal Mendis hit him for a six. In another such instance, opener Soumya Sarkar reviewed an umpire’s decision despite the bails being dislodged after the ball hitting the furniture.

After nearly getting caught at short square leg off the first ball of the over, Sarkar missed the next delivery, and despite getting bowled, he asked for a review. He walked off the ground with confusion, not sure about what had happened in that delivery.

But, it was also a confusing scene for anyone who was watching the game on the ground. Given the ball didn’t touch his bat or pad and the fielders were appealing, Sarkar was rightfully confused about his dismissal. But had he just looked towards his stumps once, he could have stopped himself from being embarrassed on the field.

Earlier, in the same match, Bangladesh had also produced another comical scene in the 95th over of the Sri Lankan first innings, bowled by Subashis Roy. A well-directed short ball took the top edge of Kusal Mendis’ bat and Mustafizur Rahman at fine-leg took the catch but stepped over the boundary ropes in his effort. However, bowler Subashis Roy, who did not notice this, started celebrating the wicket prematurely. The bowler was elated and raised both his hands in celebration, while the umpire did the same in the background only to signal a six. Kusal could not help but smile at the gaffe. Watch the full video here:
