India vs Australia | India’s probable XI for the Ranchi T20I
Despite India’s comfortable 4-1 win in the ODI series over the toothless Aussies, critics have reiterated time and again how stronger Australia could be in the shorter format due to their IPL experiences. With more T20 specialists coming into the Australian squad, India have a tough challenge ahead.
Openers
Rohit Sharma - The man from Mumbai has hardly had a bad game since his return from injury earlier this year. And Australia, being his favorite opponents, faced his full wrath in the recently concluded ODI series, where the Indian opener ended up as the highest run-getter with 296 runs. In the T20 series, once again, all eyes will be on him.
Shikhar Dhawan - The southpaw has had an unfortunate few months with personal problems calling him off the international circuit. He missed the ODI series against Australia as he had to return to his ailing wife. However, his combination with Rohit Sharma in the opening slot has worked wonders before and is expected to do the same again.
Middle-order
Virat Kohli - The skipper didn’t have the best of series in the 50-over format against the Aussies after breaking numerous records in the tour to Sri Lanka. Despite not having the best of seasons in the IPL, Kohli did manage a brilliant 82 runs off 54 balls in the one-off T20I against Sri Lanka and would want to keep a similar momentum on Saturday.
Manish Pandey - India’s uncertainty with their No.4 batsmen have prevented him a long run in the ODI series. Pandey, however, has played some crucial innings finishing things off with responsibility. The T20I series remains an important platform for the Karnataka player to nail down his place in the team.
MS Dhoni - Dhoni might have to prove himself all over again in the T20 format. The batsman has struggled to connect the middle of the bat right from the whistle as he likes to take his time to get in the groove. There will hardly be any time for that now.
Kedar Jadhav - Jadhav has shown a tremendous impact with the ball alongside his hard-hitting capabilities in the middle order. He hasn’t played many T20s for the national side and has failed to perform in the little chances he got so far, but his performance in the ODI series allows many to have high expectations from him.
Hardik Pandya- He is definitely the most sought-after youngster in the international cricket now. His ability to both ball and bat with equal efficiency and consistency has more or less cemented his spot in the Indian side and in a T20 platform, he will get to play more of his natural game, i.e., shoot at sight.
Bowlers

Yuzvendra Chahal - His partnership with Yadav has been widely lauded by everyone. Having two different handed wrist spinners would be a boon for any side and these two are providing India with the perfect bowling edge over all opponents.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar - His consistency has been marvelous and the numerous tricks up his sleeves could come in handy in any format of the game. Kohli has tried him in almost every stage of the game and he has not disappointed.
Jasprit Bumrah - The Mumbai Indians star comes to the game at the back of a brilliant ODI series where he took five wickets in four-game and never letting the economy rate to rise over 6 an over. Along with Bhuvi, Steven Smith has called them one of the best death-bowling duos in the world.
