Ranji Trophy | Jalaj Saxena scores century after taking eight wickets against Rajasthan
Jalaj Saxena has continued his brilliant performance in the Ranji Trophy taking 8 wickets against Rajasthan before scoring 102 not out during Kerala’s second innings. He also has completed 5000 first-class runs during his first-innings half-century and has picked up 240 wickets in his career.
In the recent past, many domestic players got a chance in the senior team on the basis of their outstanding performances in the Ranji Trophy. And his efforts for Kerala have only reinforced his credentials as a top-notch all-rounder in the domestic scene. In the ongoing Group B match between Rajasthan and Kerala, Saxena, who has been the most consistent performer in the Ranji Trophy for a while now, not only picked eight wickets but also remained unbeaten on 105 in the second innings of Kerala.
Saxena meanwhile, has taken his tally of wickets this season to 24 already with his third match still going on, and his tally of runs to 281.
These were not Saxena’s best figures, however, with the offspinner having taken 8 for 58 against Railways in the 2015-16 season, on the way to extraordinary match figures of 16 for 154.
"Last season, I injured my index finger after a few matches. Even after I came back from the injury I was not able to bowl at the same level as I did previously. I'm so happy that this season has started so well for me and my target remains the same. To win as many matches as possible and qualify for the knockouts," said Saxena, who had won the BCCI Lala Amarnath award for the best allrounder for his exploits with Madhya Pradesh in the 2014-15 season.
