WATCH: Twitterati has termed this newly invented shot ‘Heliscoop’

We know that players keep experimenting with their approach in the ever-changing game of cricket. The latest such invention has stunned everyone with a brilliant blend of the Dilscoop and the Helicopter shot. The batsman does everything possible to distract the bowler before hitting him for a four.

Cricket has been witness to various innovative shots over the years, shots that are clearly outside of the rulebook. Mahendra Singh Dhoni had come up with the helicopter shot, Tillakaratne Dilshan with his dilscoop, and Kevin Pietersen with his iconic switch hit- and the critics have accepted them all with open arms.

However, the latest such innovation may not propel its inventor to similar stardom. While the name of the tournament or the player couldn’t be confirmed, the shot has already become a favourite among Twitterati, who are terming it as a ‘heliscoop’.

Though it blends much more than the two shots that constitute its name, the batsman clearly looks to have drawn inspiration from them. He started his antics when the bowler initiated his run-up and by the time he was about to pitch the ball, the batsman had swung his bat like a sword twice and feigned a switch-hit, before deciding to go for a paddle sweep that ended up at the boundary at fine-leg.
