Sri Lanka cricket decides to shelve plans for glamorous T20 tournament
Sri Lanka Cricket board has decided to drop all the plans for the IPL-style glamorous T20 tournament in order to focus on the Sri Lanka Cricket T20 League for the local players. The board officials have scheduled the local tournament with four teams taking part which will begin from August 21.
After the massive success of Indian Premier League all across the world, Sri Lanka cricket had planned to replicate it
But the board officials revealed that the plans have been scrapped and they are focusing on the Sri Lanka Cricket T20 league featuring local players. It was further stated that the league will nurture the youngsters by letting them play alongside the island's best.
“There won’t be any foreign players and we will be focusing on our international players. The new league will focus on the youngsters and will nurture them by giving them the opportunity to play alongside the nation’s best in the four teams that will take part,” a board official was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
