First two matches of the quadrangular series called off by the BCCI due to heavy rains
The first two one day matches of quadrangular series involving India A, India B, Australia A and South Africa A, have been called off because of poor ground conditions due to heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh. The grounds are unplayable for next two days and matches shall continue from August 19.
The quadrangular series organised by the BCCI involved four teams namely India A, India B, Australia A and South Africa A, was scheduled to begin on August 17. The first two matches were scheduled on 17th August between India A vs Australia A and India B vs South Africa A in Andhra Pradesh at Malupada and Vijayawada respectively. The series has been scheduled by the BCCI to take place until 29th August 2018.
However, the first two matches had to unfortunately called off because of the poor ground conditions due to heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh. The ground authorities declared that both the venue's shall be unplayable for the next two days.
"Due to heavy rainfall in the region, the match officials, in consultation with the ground curator Mr S Sriram, reached a consensus that the ground conditions were not suitable for play for the next two days. As a result, matches on the 17th & 18th August (reserve day) which were scheduled to take place between India A & Australia A, India B & South Africa A had to be called off. The rest of the fixtures will continue as per schedule from 19th August, 2018,” Amitabh Choudhary, acting secretary of BCCI, said in a statement.
