Andrew Tye admits to being shocked by huge IPL deal

After being scouted by Western Australia coach Justin Langer in 2013, Tye has been an absolute star for arguably the most successful T20 franchise in the world at the moment - Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL). His performances earned him a, what appears to be an assured, place in the Australian limited-overs squad as well. On a day, when he claimed 5/46 in the ODI match against England, the former Chennai Super Kings pacer was snapped by KXIP for a huge amount of 7.20 crores and that made Tye nostalgic and happy at the same moment. 

Tye will be one of the team’s go-to bowlers during Australia's T20 tri-series, which will also involve England and New Zealand. However, the main team will not be a part of the series as the Test regulars have been rested ahead of the tour of South Africa. But that doesn’t mean the team’s firepower has deemed a bit as T20 superstar Chris Lynn is all set to play his first international game in over a year.

Australia have recently suffered a 4-1 series loss in the ODIs against England, after suffering the same result against India as well, and will be keen to improve their slumping performances in the upcoming tri-series. And Tye believes that it was a golden opportunity for Australia to join hands together to uplift their sagging fortunes.

"We know we've underperformed in this format for a while now. We're definitely trying to rectify that and try to move up in those rankings and get up to the top where we should be," Tye said.
