Following his unbeaten 128 for Delhi Daredevil’s, Rishabh Pant had become the brunt of a rumour stating that he played with such ferocity out of anger on not being selected for the T20Is. Pant, however, clarified through a post that rumour was simply not true and requested to be left out of it.

The Delhi Daredevil’s superstar had recently become the talk of the IPL after scoring an astounding 128 off 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is the highest score achieved by an Indian cricketer in the T20s and he also broke Gautam Gambhir’s record of 534 runs for most runs by a Daredevils batsman in the IPL. The 20-year-old is currently the Orange cap holder with 582 runs from 12 matches where he has hit a hundred and four fifties so far.

The talented wicketkeeper batsman was bought by Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and had been retained ahead of the mega-auction earlier this year. Given the statistics, it came as a shock when he had not been selected for the T20I matches in Ireland and the ODIs and T20Is in England. This was after he was named in the Indian A team. Coming to his recent stardom after his unbeaten 128, rumour mongers took this opportunity to start a fire and falsely quoted Pant saying, “I was angry with the selectors for not selecting me in Indian Senior Team against Afghanistan, England or Ireland. All my anger came out tonight in form of those shots. Hope they saw my innings & realized I deserve a place in Indian Team.”

Pant, however, had said no such thing and clarified the same through a post.

The highly talented batsman has performed well in many formats and is the youngest batsman to reach the 1000-run mark in IPL history. In the 2016-17 season of the Ranji trophy, Pant scored a triple century making him the third-youngest Indian to ever do so. He also scored the fastest century from 48 balls in the same season. Pant made his T20I debut for India in the third T20I against England in February 2017. In June 2017, he played in two matches in the Nidahas Trophy.
