If there is one keeper in the world any team would desperately NOT want to have in their team, it is Kamran Akmal. Akmal made himself the butt of many a joke due to his horrendous keeping and yesterday, he missed a stumping chance of his brother Umar Akmal that would make anyone go LOL.

When Kamran Akmal scored that century against India in the 2005 Karachi Test, he was hailed as a gift to a nation which never had a good wicket-keeper batsman at their disposal and at a time, when the dogfight between Rashid Latif and Moin Khan for the spot was at the peak, a Pakistani fan couldn’t have asked for anything more. However, that ability to keep efficiently reduced alarmingly and there have been very few matches in which he was a part of the game and there is no clumsy Akmal error.

If the Sydney Test of 2009-10 set the precedent in which there were four dropped catches and a missed run-out, yesterday’s incident crossed all the limits. Playing for Punjabi Legends in Dubai T10 league, Kamran was keeping to Rashid Khan while his brother Umar Akmal, who was representing Maratha Arabians, was batting.

Rashid was turning the ball by a mile and both the Akmals looked absolutely clueless against him. On the fifth delivery of the 8th over, Rashid bowled a normal leg-break which moved drastically and missed Kamran’s gloves and even the man standing at the first slip failed to get a hold of it. While that was still fine - Rashid is unkeepable at times - Kamran acted like he had the ball in his hands and tried imitating a stumping dismissal.

We still haven't been able to figure out whether this is a case of the senior Akmal saving his younger sibling or just Kamran being Kamran. Well, we believe it is the later based on our memories of his career.
